Atlantic Bridge ...
- is an interdenominational organsation for christian youthwork
- develops new ideas for youthwork and works together with the local churches (in Nürnberg until now for example St. Matthäus, St. Johannis, St. Jakob, Vineyard Church)
- organizes exchange for young people from the USA, Germany, The Netherlands, Czech Republic Danmark, England and Iceland
- organizes tours for christian artists, who give concerts in schools, "flying Englishteachers" and socalled "MarcoPoloTeams", who do local research on new ways of youth work
- works together with European Volunteer Service (EVS) of the european union
- is has its headquarters in Kruiningen / Holland, local partners in the USA, in the Tschech republic and in Germany (Nürnberg / Köln / Dresden)
What happens in Nürnberg / Germany?
Since 1993 we work in Nürnberg Churches (St. Jakob, St. Matthäus, St. Johannis, Vineyard) and in Nürnberg schools (Wilhelm-Löhe-Schule, Hauptschulen Insel Schütt, Uhlandstraße, Schnieglingerstraße u.a.). We provide workshops and lessons. A short overview:
- The Steppingteam "Nubian Gents" from New York gave concerts and danced in services Now there is also in Nürnberg one studentStreetsteppingteam, which weekly trains in St. Jakob
- The "singing Maori" Steve Apirana played for 100 students of the 9th grade, told them about his childhood and living on the streets and gave a lesson in "tribal dances"
- The gospel choir "Angels of Harmony" sang in een "school´s out service"
- StreetsteppingTrainer Reggie Alvarez from New York City held workshops
In May 2004 we founded "Atlantic Bridge Nürnberg".
What are Bridgebuilders?
The core of Atlantic Bridge are the "BridgebuilderTeams":
young people meet for one year, talk about their cultural, social and religious background und organize the following activities:
- One weekend for the group to grow together
- One trip abroad to another "BridgebuilderTeam", staying with them etc.
- Once hosting a "BridgebuilderTeam" from abroad
- Visit the "International Youthfestival"
